Frequently Asked Questions

How can I reinstall IDicto?

Find iDicto in AppStore and click 'Buy'. Аpple will determine automatically that you’ve already bought the application and will offer to reinstall it. Thus, you won’t pay twice.

What format and quality does iDicto record sound?

To decrease your recordings size iDicto uses IMA4 codec and CAF file format. At present we provide 3 levels of record quality: Low quality (8kHz), Good quality (22,05 kHz), High quality (44,1 kHz). While selecting the record quality, remember that the higher the quality, the larger the file size and vice versa.

Is it possible to improve the recording and playback quality of my notes?

Yes, it is. iPhone is equipped with quite faint-sound speakers. To improve the playback quality you can use headphones or external speaker. We also recommend to use external mic, a standard headset, for example, which is supplied together with your iPhone.

How many recordings can I make, what is their size?

1 minute of 8kHz recording is about 264KB. Using iPhone with 16GB memory, you can record more than 1000 hours of sound data. Thus, you can record 380 hours of 22,05kHz quality data or 190 hours of 44,1kHz quality data. iDicto enables you to make any amount of recordings of any duration.

Will the recording be lost in case the iPhone has little free space?

In case your iPhone has less than 20МB of free space iDicto will show the corresponding warning message prior to recording start. You can refuse to make recording and free some space on your iPhone.

Can iDicto record phone calls?

No, iDicto can’t record phone calls. iPhone closes any 3rd party application during the phone call.

When I try to save a recording to my Mac/PC iDicto closes and file transfer stops. What happens?

Perhaps download manager in your system is integrated into your web-browser. At present we are working on this problem. You still can save your recording from browser using ctrl+click for Mac or right click for Windows on the record's file name. Then select "Download Linked File As..." or "Save Link As" in the popup menu.

Can I add new icons to groups? Will iDicto have new skins?

We are planning to release a new icons pack in one of updates. Perhaps skins to iDicto will appear soon as well. :)

Will iDicto have localization into other languages except for English?

We are working hard in this direction. New versions of iDicto will definitely have localization into other languages. Now we’d like to analyze the product popularity in different country.

Record transferring via web-browser stops when the phone enters sleep mode. What should I do?

The thing is that as soon as iPhone enters sleep mode, Wi-Fi is automatically disconnected to save the battery charge. That’s why the connection with the browser is interrupted. To avoid this we offer a number of settings which prevent your phone from entering sleep mode during 5,10,15,30 minutes or during the whole process of file transfer.
